Coppell teams finish 2nd/3rd in Flower Mound JV Invitational at Lake Park--Feb. 16, 2010

Led by Stephen Charlson (81-4th place) and Travis Underwood (83-Top ten medalist), the Freshman team (other participants were--Frank Gerome, Jonathan Bolton, & Tanner McCord) placed 2nd with a score of 342. The JV team was led by Payne Spudic (82-5th place) in placing 3rd overall (other participants were Ryan Horner, Grant Clift, Ryan Boger, & Jordan Stone). A total of 15 teams from area schools participated in this Flower Mound JV tournament.

Coppell teams finish 4th/6th--22 teams in Creekview tournament at Castle Hills--Feb. 17, 2010

Albert Lo shot 78 to lead the Freshman team to a 6th place finish and Hunter Robinson fired 80 as he led the Varsity team to a 4th place standing. 22 total teams participated in this Creekview Invitational at Castle Hills. Other players participating for the Coppell teams were: Varsity--Grant Brown, Wesley Vohs, Troy Hanson, Kevin Dunham, & Austin Ingrum >>> Freshman--Daniel Dickens, Alex Garcia, Landon Moody, & Jacob Hunter.

Hunter Robinson's 74 leads Coppell Varsity to 8th place/15 teams in Texarkana tournament

Hunter Robinson shot a very fine round of 74 to take 3rd place honors in the Texarkana tournament on Feb. 27, 2010. The event was shortened to one day as heavy rain spoiled the first round. The other participants for Coppell (all seniors) were: Brett Wheeler, Ben Coggins, Blake Van Patten, and Nick Stephens. Coppell finished 8th out of 15 teams.

CHS JV defends their Fall 08 title by WINNING the Denton Ryan Invitational at Oakmont CC

Going into the Oakmont tournament, the CHS JV team set a goal to defend their Fall 08 title in the Denton Ryan Invitational. And achieving that goal is exactly what they did by shooting their low score (319) of the season. All 5 players finished in the top 10 medalists as follows: Troy Hanson (75-2nd place), Grant Brown (79-top 5) with Wesley Vohs, Alex Garcia, and Albert Lo shooting 82,83,83 respectively. Great job JV in WINNING this event again!!

2nd place finish by JV team in Frisco Liberty tournament at Twin Creeks GC

In the downpouring rain for the last few holes, the Cowboy JV team hung in there to finish in 2nd place. Grant Brown & Troy Hanson placed 4th & 5th medalists, respectively, and Ryan Boger finished in the top 15. Also participating in this tournament were freshman, Stephen Charlson and Frank Gerome.

Freshman team places high in tough Frisco Centennial JV tournament at Westridge GC

|
The CHS freshman team of Albert Lo, Jacob Hunter, Alex Garcia, Landon Moody, and Frank Gerome participated in the always tough Frisco Centennial JV tournament and placed a very respectable 6th out of 24 teams. Albert Lo's 76 was 5th medalist and Jacob Hunter placed in the top 15, shooting 80.

Cowboys take 1st & 2nd place in October Open at Indian Creek

|
The October Open Varsity II/JV tournament at Indian Creek was dominated by the Cowboys as they had the 1st & 2nd place teams. Kevin Dunham, Troy Hanson, and Austin Ansley led the Varsity II "A" team by placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd medalists, respectively. The Varsity II "B" team also placed 3 medalists in the top 10. Brett Wheeler, Stephen Charlson, and Austin Ingrum received medals for 4th, 8th, & 9th place, respectively. Payne Spudic also placed 5th medalist, playing on the JV "A" team. Because Coppell was the host school, Coach Galbraith chose to play 18 golfers (4 teams) in this event. Other Cowboy players competing in this tournament were: Grant Brown, Wesley Vohs, Ryan Boger, Jonathan Bolton, Grant Clift, Jordan Stone, Travis Underwood, Tanner McCord, Davis DeLoach, Matthew Lefkovits, and Clifton Fadal.

Varsity team places 3rd in a very closely contested Waxahachie tournament

|
CHS has played in the Waxahachie Varsity tournament for many years and done very well. This year the Cowboys fought hard to win the tournament, but could not overtake the home team (by 4 strokes) or Frisco Liberty (by one stroke) to finish in 3rd place. This showing, however, was the best for the Varsity this fall season. Ben Coggins (80-78) and Nick Stephens (82-78) received plaques for placing in the top 10 medalists. Also participating in the tournament were: Derek Willms, Blake Van Patten, & Brett Wheeler.

JV "Red" team finishes 1 stroke behind to place 2nd at Twin Wells tournament

Landon Moody and Alex Garcia both played excellent on the back nine to shoot 39's and place 2nd--3rd medalists, respectively, with scores of 84. Those scores led the "Red" team to a 2nd place finish (345), one stroke behind Irving MacArthur (344), the tournament winner. The freshman "White" team shot 380 to place 5th overall. Travis Underwood shot the lowest score, 93, for the "White" team. Other players participating in this tournament were: "Red" team--Ryan Horner, Kevin Dunham, & Jacob Hunter-----"White" team--Stephen Charlson, Frank Gerome, Jonathan Bolton, & Tanner McCord.

Freshman team gets first win of 2009 fall golf season

Rain shortened the first sub-varsity tournament of the 2009 fall season to 9 holes. The rainy weather conditions, however, didn't dampen the results for Daniel Dickens (38), Landon Moody (41), Alex Garcia (46), and Jacob Hunter (46) as they placed 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 6th respectively in the Indian Creek Invitational (hosted by Coppell) on Sept. 17th. Those good placings led Coppell "Black" to a team victory with a score of 171. Grant Clift (7th medalist--47) and Stephen Charlson (10th medalist--48) led their respective "Red" & "White" teams to 3rd and 5th place showings with team totals of 199 and 203. This was a great kickoff to the season and gave several freshman players an opportunity to play in their first ever HS tournament. Other players participating in this tournament were: (Sophs.)--Jordan Stone, Payne Spudic; (Freshman)--Frank Gerome, Jonathan Bolton, Tanner McCord, Travis Underwood, Davis DeLoach, & Matthew Lefkovits.
