Varsity boys place 2nd in "Fast Freddy" Classic at Las Colinas CC--Sr. Austin Ansley leads scoring
Gusty winds at the start of the day played havoc with most of the early scoring in the "Fast Freddy" Classic at Las Colinas CC. Senior Austin Ansley was a prime example of this rocky start, as he was 6 over par after just a few holes. He, however, played the remainder of the round 1 over par to lead the Cowboys with a score of 78 (top 10 placing). He was followed closely by Eric VerDuin-Albert Lo (80's) and Landon Moody-Daniel Dickens (83's). That gave CHS a 321 total, which was tied with tournament host Flower Mound HS (Silver team). Therefore, the 5th player score would be the tiebreaker. Cowboys (83) beat the Jaguars (86) and Coppell secured 2nd place. Also participating in this event was Sr. Payne Spudic. Congratulations to these players on their Runner-up performance and fine showing.

Other FR./SOPH participants for the CHS Cowgirls were: Ashley Kim, Ava Robicheaux, Lexi Scutari, and Leslie McCord.

Varsity girls team sets new school records at Mansfield Invitational. Chaithra Katamneni ties 4th pl
The Varsity girls team set a new school record of 306 on Day 1 of the Mansfield Invitational with the following scores: (Chaithra Katamneni--72, Tiffany Breitenwischer--73, Taylor Icenberger--76, and Hannah Jiao--85). Their two-day total of 625 was also a new school record, with Lexi Kearney contributing on Day 2 by shooting 80. The team was disappointed with their tie for 5th place finish (306-319 = 625) after being in 3rd place on Day 1, but the field was highly competitive (4 past State Champion schools and 5 other State Qualifier teams). Therefore, their overall performance was extremely impressive. They competed in the top pairing on Day 2 and gained valuable experience on how to handle this situation. Freshman Chaithra Katamneni (72-71=143) tied for 4th place individually and received a plaque for being in the Top 10 scores. The future looks bright for the CHS COWGIRLS as no seniors played in this event. Congratulations to all of these young ladies on a fine performance in such a competitive field of teams (tied 5th out of 20--just 2 strokes from 3rd place).

The final JV event of the fall season will be in 3 weeks, another tournament hosted by Creekview HS at Indian Creek GC.

Varsity boys break school records at Red Raider Fall Classic and open season with 2nd place finish
Day 1 of the Red Raider Classic was played at Shadow Hills CC and the Varsity boys shot 1-under par (287) as a team and broke the existing school record. Soph-Eric Ver Duin led the way with an awesome 68, followed closely by Juniors--Daniel Dickens 70, Landon Moody 74, and Albert Lo 75. Even though this was a great score, the Cowboys were in 3rd place behind SL Carroll's 280 and the 282 shot by Frenship HS. Day 2 proved to be a challenge on the TTU Rawls Course as the Cowboys (Albert 71, Daniel 75, Landon 75, and Eric 77 = 298) Highland Park (293), and the SL Dragons (289) were the only teams to break 300. Therefore, the Coppell Cowboys made up 6 strokes on Frenship and edged them by 1 stroke to pick up the 2nd place trophy.
